Day book and invoice book, 1810-1812, 1814-1824.

Volumes record wholesale and retail transactions made by H. & G. Vail. The first volume is a day book kept from 1810 through 1812 listing items bought and debits paid by customers. A variety of textile fabrics and other products, including candles, carpeting, furniture binding, hearth rugs, artificial flowers, and parasols are represented. The second volume is an invoice book kept between 1814 and 1824 that documents goods purchased by Vail, primarily from New York City merchants. Textile fabrics in many varieties predominate. Also included are copies of orders sent to other merchants.
